Cayne enters the left room. Inside are racks of primitive weapons. A bow and arrows, swords, daggers, a claymore, and a set of leather armor.

Cayne immediately makes his way to the leather armor, snagging two daggers on his way there

(Bartending tonight so I’ll be unable to respond for the rest of the night in about an hour, but I’m on all of tomorrow and can zoom by)

(In lieu of us being at our own speeds) Cayne throws on the leather armor, strapping the bow and quiver to his back, with a sword in his right and a dagger in his left. He looks around the room for any exits.

Both the weapons are nice and ornate, as if they’ve never been used before.

There’s another exit besides the way he came in, that looks to lead into a small closet.

The room is lined with old shelves, but is otherwise empty. The wall on the north end of the closet room is heavily cracked and almost broken.

Cayne walks over to the cracked wall, peeking to see if there’s anything behind it

He gets a glimpse of another room one the side from the light shining through. He hears the footsteps of Svenka and Wes as they enter with a crate each.

The shelves are about 3 feet wide and as tall as Cayne. There are 2 of them, one on each side. Hey

Cayne immediately attempts to move them into the doorway, attempting to barricade the other two from entering

Svenka sees what he is doing and sighs (edited)

Wes gently puts down his crate and moves to get the big claymore, and a dagger. (not for long.) (edited)

(Well let’s see if they get put in place first. Not sure if there was a door there either, if so I would’ve closed it)

Wes looks around for a way to move on from the weapon room.

The shelves cleanly move into place quick enough. Together, they’ll buy Cayne a bit of time, but not long. The shelves are old. (Lets do turns here for a minute. Cayne, then Wes and Svenka. Together, it’ll take two turns to break down the shelves.

(I’m off to work in like 10 mins, can I roll to try and kick through the break in the wall now just so you’re not waiting on me?)

I was gonna say punch or work, but it doesn't matter since they're the same anyways) Cayne works hard at the wall, and is able to work a gap big enough for him to fit through. He finds himself at the entrance to another room. The room has a simple chest in the middle, and another exit its east side...with someone standing there. (move to group 2 Cayne)

(no, you're crate is still on the same side of the shelves as you. But it is one more turn to break through, which you can now take since Cayne's made a move)

Break on through to the other side

Together, the two break through to the other side, destroying the shelves.

Grab a sword and stow the daggers, give the room a quick look over

The room they're now in is empty, aside from the destroyed shelves and a hole in the wall where Cayne broke his way out.

Wes looks among the destroyed shelves for something interesting.

A short message appears as a small line in your view screens.

“Find anything interesting? We should be after him...”

"Not sure, just shelf chunks I think? Let's go then, only one way forward, watch out for traps."

Svenka nods and takes point through the wall

(I think Hailey was going to sleep soon, don't want to pile up too many posts without a response. Especially if we'll need to switch threads again.)

There is nothin on the destroyer shelves.

Wes walks up cautiously to the side of the hole in the wall then waggles his crate around in front of it.

Svenka moves to get through the hole after Wes has finished waggling (assuming nothing bad happens)

The crate partially blocks off the hole, but nothing else, making it difficult to fit through.

After a few seconds of not being shot and realizing the crate is too big to fit through the hole in the wall Wes puts in on the ground then takes out his dagger and tries to pry one of the sides off.

It takes a minute, but he's able to pry one of the sides of the crate off. It's made all of wood, but it is fairly sturdy.

Wes stares at it thinking a moment then starts working his dagger through the center, trying to get it good and stuck, but keep the makeshift shield whole.

The board now had a dagger stuck through its center, after a bit of work. Its not quite one meter by one meter.

Wes hands off the makeshift shield to Svenka to use with her sword. He then tries to use the claymore to make the hole in the wall big enough to take their crates through.

The makeshift shield should be able to function normally, especially against lighter weapons. Larger ones may cause more of a problem, depending on the capability of the wielder.

After some time of work, he makes the hole big enough to fit the crates through. The room through it is well lit and big, with a simple chest at its center,

(How big is the room and the chest in the middle of it?)

Its about as big as the barracks type room you were in before. There's plenty of space to move around. The chest isn't very big. It's about a meter wide.

(So about the same size as the crates?)

(yeah, but shorter. Like half the height) The floor of the room is tiled, similarly to the first room they were in with the red markings on the floor and the crates.

Wes motions for Svenka to follow then takes the crate back to the weapon room. Once there he starts filling it with as many daggers and shelf chunks as will fit inside without making it too heavy to slide or lift.

Its filled with the shelf chunks and a few daggers before its filled to the brim. It can still be dragged or pushed along, or carried by two people together.

They take it back to the other large room, then Wes throws a shelf chunk at the chest in the center of it, looking around expectantly.

A volley of arrows fly in the direction of the chest from the west side of the room

(So arrows west, exit east, and hole south?)

(Yes. Arrows flying from the west side, an exit to the east, and a hole they made to the south)

(Oh you mean the crates? The crates should cover a crouching person, yes)

Wes turns to Svenka. "Well it's not stupid if it works right?" He shrugs before dumping out his crate and putting it over himself then walking to about where the arrows started and continuing crouched towards the chest in the center of the room.

The arrows do not fires as he is close to the wall where they fire from. The crate shields him successfully from most of the arrows as they fire when he gets close to the chest, but the side of the crate is on the verge of shattering to bits as he gets to the chest and the arrows stop.

He and Svenka both hear a sizzling, groaning sound out the east exit, getting nearer.

Svenka follows close behind, using her shield for cover “We should move”

Wes peeks out from under the crate then lifts it off of himself so the top is pointed west and tries to open the treasure chest. (edited)

The chest opens easily. Inside is a solid metal shield with wooden reinforcements. (as equipment, its a normal shield)

As Wes picks it up, he feels a rush of strength, filling him with determination. (while equipped, +2 Constitution Modifier and +5 total health) (edited)

“I can either take that and provide cover, or we should switch weapons - whoever has the shield should take point and duck to allow the other to attack.”

"Sure take it if you want, either way we should probably get to the safe side of the arrows before whatever is making that sound gets here."

"Unless you think we could lure it into getting pin cushioned?"

“I’d rather have an escape route - lets get back on the safe side” Svenka takes the shield and carefully heads back

Wes covers back up with the crate and pushes the empty chest back across the arrows. Making sure a different side is facing west than the last time. (edited)

The both escape back through the hole into the room where they found their weapons.

Wes fills the chest with daggers and chunks like he did the crate before then puts it in the crate. "Do you want to head back to the main room and down one of the other ways, or take our chances with the noisy thing?"

“Well, we should face something down - chances are better that it’s protecting something important. I’ll leave the final call to you, but I say we fight the thing.”

"Makes sense, how you feel about making a stand here, it is the weapon room right? Maybe we can get it while it squeezes through the hole in the wall?"

Wes goes to grab 3 more daggers before the fight. (edited)

“Let’s wait and see if it comes through”

"Sure we can throw daggers and shield chunks at it as it comes in."

Wes opens the chest so he can get at the daggers and chunks there too. Then readies a dagger to throw if the thing enters. (edited)

Svenka is ready with the shield to block and cover

It sounds to get further away as they wait ready, but then starts to come closer again, like its in the chest room from before.

“Shall we?”

"Alright."

Wes moves forward into the shelf room, dagger ready to throw in one hand Claymore held over his shoulder with the other.

Svenka moves forward carefully - shield up and eyes searching for whatever made the noise

The light streaming in through the hole goes dark as a black being fills the space, wanting to get through.

Wes throws his dagger at it.

(just a d20 since whichever skill/att it will still be +0 right?)

Svenka braces the sword against the shield and goes for a thrust (Wes can you roll for me? I’m on mobile)

(ok assuming that's right I'll post it in a sec first is throw then stab.)

(We'll give everyone an AB of 3, otherwise it'll be impossible to hit anything. Both still miss though.) The dagger falls short and the blade bounces off a bone jutting from the monster. It breaks through the wall and the two get a better look at it. Its more or less a massive, sentient load of tar, bubbling and oozing towards. It's got bones jutting out of it at random, with a skull at its top, two pale red eyes glowing through.

Wes shifts to a two handed grip on his Claymore as he takes a swing at the monster. (17 +3= 20/d8+1=7)

(7 to hit unmodified +3 damage - assuming 1d6)

Wes strikes the monster hard, causing is side to rip some. (yeah 1d6 for the sword svenka)

(for primitive melee it's d2 unarmed d4 small d6+1 med d8+1 large right?)

(Sorry, figured it out - 10 to hit - 4 damage)

(Sorry didn't mean to be a that guy, I just wanted to make sure I did it right for myself and when I rolled for Svenka before.)

Svenka manages to graze the monster as it gets closer. The monster lashes out, a goopy tar limb striking out towards Svenka. The bones graze her right from its whipping tip. (17 hit, 10 dmg)

Wes lets out a berserker yell on seeing the tar monster's bony appendage hit Svenka, and brings his sword down trying to split it's skull. (18/2)

(I don’t know how hurt I am with the bonus HP, or if I am dead - if not...) Svenka recoils back at the attack and jabs the sword into the limb

Wes' sword hits the skull, but its sturdiness protects it from some damage. (Svenka you have 17 HP with bonus+standard, so now 7 left)

Svenka strikes again but misses.

The monster lashes out at Wes this time, but misses, hitting the wall near him instead.

(About to head to bed - so on my turn will attack with my all, aiming for the skull as well (8/3))

(Sorry didn't realize I was up again.) Still a little shaken from his angry swipe not doing much to the tar monster Wes overcompensates trying to put more strength into an upward cut. (8/9)

(I’m now heading north fishing and will be not available much at all )

Both Svenka and Wes miss again. The monster continues closer and goes for Svenka again. (18/5)

Wes takes another slash out at the creature

It cuts the monster, gashing it’s goopy side.

(I'll leave it up to you. I might be slower responding or rolling. I'm heading to my cousin's graduation, sorry.)

(Please do - I barely have internet and roll 20 isn’t working up here - don’t know when this will come through.) Svenka will drive the attack, knowing if she runs it will kill her and this is her only option

(11/3) Svenka's attack hits home and sinks into the monster. It lashes out for Wes this time, but misses.

Seeing Svenka charge in even in her desperate condition, and feeling confident on the monsters miss Wes goes in for another attack. (7/7)

Wes misses, but the blade comes close, causing the monster to flinch, it starts to pull back, not as confident anymore.

(If it’s me up) - Svenka locks the sword against the shield and charges, screaming at the strange muck monster

(Sorry I've been totally afk, got family in from out of town) The monster slips back, now seeming to be on the defensive. It moves to pull back the the hole in the wall, trying to slip out.

It lashes out at Svenka again on its way. (15/4) (Idk if that kills, but I think so)

(two questions, are people like npcs in that they're just dead at 0 in here, and is wes up?)

"You don't get off that easy Goo Boy." Wes charges in for another hit with his claymore.

The hit lands strong, cutting it deep. It strikes out itself in anger, abandoning its retreat. (14/9)

"Hah! it'll take more than that to finish me ,not much more, anyway die!." Wes takes a last desperate swipe at the goo monster. (edited)

It screeches and collapses into a lifeless flood on the floor, more draining than sinking into a crack in the floor and out of view. All that's left of it is a fist-sized red orb.

(Yup - very much dead!) “good luck” the tall Taros warrior says before being killed, her gear clattering to the floor

"Wes goes to the clattered gear and puts most of it in the open crate, but straps the shield to his back and sighs. "You are avenged friend! I will carry your shield across the finish line since I can't carry you." Wes is silent for a moment, then deciding he doesn't have much to lose he shrugs and picks up the red orb. (Sorry, I changed the order of the actions Wes did so it would flow a little better to include Svenka's death and derezzing I think, hope that's ok.) (edited)

Wes feels himself fade into a mist as everything goes black. He reappears in a small clearing in the maze with a pale red skull marked on the floor, the same color as the orb. There is a line the same color as both of these leading the right like a foggy mist guiding him.

Wes follows the misty red line.

The misty line leads him north and up a flight of stairs into a room before stopping. There are two other contestants inside (Joshua and Hope). (Can read thread one a bit if you wanna see what's inside and what they're doing, and hop over there if you wanna join them)
